PEANUTS CARAMEL 花生糖

The term "Pinda Chinees" has a historical, and nostalgic meanings in the Netherlands. This term refers to the determination and will to survive of Chinese dockworkers during the difficult 1930s. Through street vending, including peanut candy (花生糖, huāshēng táng), they laid the foundation for the later rise of Chinese-Indonesian restaurants in the Netherlands. Their story is an ode to how entrepreneurship can help, even under the most impoverished poor circumstances.
